Martyn’s Law Preparation & Compliance Support
Preparing your premises, venue or event for the new legal duties under Martyn’s Law.
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, widely known as Martyn’s Law, introduces new responsibilities for publicly accessible premises and events. With formal implementation work continuing ahead of 2027, now is the right time for organisations to review their current arrangements and begin preparing in a practical, proportionate way.
Powys Safety Solutions can help venue operators, employers and event organisers understand what the legislation means for them and what sensible steps should now be taken to prepare.
Who may be affected?
Martyn’s Law uses a tiered approach based on the number of people a premises or event can reasonably expect to host.
Standard Tier
Premises with a capacity of 200 to 799 people will need basic preparedness arrangements in place, including staff awareness and practical procedures for responding to an incident.
Enhanced Tier
Premises and events with a capacity of 800 or more will face broader requirements, including more detailed assessment and proportionate security planning.
How Powys Safety Solutions can help
We provide practical, business-focused support to help you prepare sensibly and confidently for the new requirements.
- Tier assessment – identifying whether your premises or events are likely to fall within the scope of the legislation and at what level
- Compliance gap analysis – reviewing your current procedures, arrangements and documentation against the expected requirements of Martyn’s Law
- Emergency planning support – developing proportionate procedures for evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication
- Operational review – helping you build terrorism preparedness into your wider health and safety systems
- Staff awareness and training guidance – helping you identify suitable awareness training and preparedness measures for relevant personnel
Our approach
Our aim is to make compliance preparation clear and manageable. We focus on what is reasonably practicable for your type of premises, your operations and your level of risk, avoiding unnecessary complexity while helping you take your responsibilities seriously.
For many organisations, this is not about starting from scratch. Existing health and safety procedures, emergency planning, fire evacuation planning and staff briefing systems may already provide a strong foundation which can be reviewed and strengthened.
